Recreational use of cannabis – commonly called weed – has been legal in Missouri since late 2022. But, there have been few to no complementary efforts to educate the public about how the drug impacts social, emotional and physical well-being – until now.
PreventEd – a St. Louis-based organization that prevents the harms of alcohol and other drug use through education, intervention and advocacy – is digging into the weeds to bring youth, young adults, their parents and other support systems the facts about cannabis.
In the Weeds is a robust initiative that dispels myths and shares facts so adults across Missouri are equipped to have often uncomfortable but necessary conversations about cannabis use.
“We’re filling a critical gap in the state’s legalization of cannabis,” said Executive Director Nichole Dawsey. “Now, Missourians have an approachable hub where they can turn to make safe, informed decisions.”
Resources include:
- Age-specific talking kits to catalyze conversations at the kitchen table and in the classroom
- Regular short podcast episodes answering audience-submitted questions
- In-person programming delivered by PreventEd’s expert staff.
Head to In the Weeds to listen, download and submit your questions. And, continue checking back on the page as we’ll be updating it regularly with new resources as laws and research about cannabis develop.
