Coalition on Addictions: A PreventEd Speaker Series

Time

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Coalition on Addictions is a monthly event that provides a forum for networking, learning, and advocacy regarding the use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs. Participation is open to anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in addressing substance use.

This month’s topic:  Understanding Vivitrol and Counseling for the Treatment of Alcohol Dependence, by Dr. Arturo Taca, MD.

This presentation will discuss how to help and support patients struggling with alcohol dependence, and how VIVITROL® (naltrexone for extended-release injectable suspension) may be used to treat alcohol dependence. This treatment is relevant for patients who are able to abstain from alcohol in an outpatient setting prior to initiation of treatment with VIVITROL. Patients should not be actively drinking at the time of initial VIVITROL administration.

One CEU contact hour certificate is available for $5.00. Individuals holding a CHES/MCHES certification can earn one CECH for $5.00.

This month’s COA will be a webinar hosted on an Alkermes web-based learning platform. The presentation will begin at 12pm. NOTE:  You will need to enter Alkermes Representative, Steve Arosteguy, on the registration form.   Click here to register.
