Coalition on Addictions is a monthly event that provides a forum for networking, learning, and advocacy regarding the use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs. Participation is open to anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in addressing substance use.
This month’s Coalition on Addictions topic is “Local, State, and National Drug Trends,” by Special Agent Ryan Lawyer with DEA St. Louis.
In this training, Special Agent Lawyer will discuss drug trends and related topics that are being observed and/or addressed by the DEA on local, state, and national levels. In particular, we will discuss the resurgence of stimulant drugs, the prevalence of counterfeit pills, and how these substances are marketed and access via digital sources (social media, internet pharmacies, etc.).
Special Agent (SA) Ryan Lawyer is currently assigned to the DEA St. Louis Division to the Tactical Diversion Squad (TDS) and is the Demand Reduction Coordinator (DRC). As DRC, SA Lawyer shares his unique expertise about drug trends and emerging threats with community coalitions, civic leaders, state, local, and national drug prevention organizations, as well as other federal agencies to support collaborative drug prevention and education efforts.
