This year, Red Ribbon Trainings will be delivered on a completely virtual platform in three sessions (September 17, 23, and 28). PreventEd staff have been working hard to ensure that this year is as much an engaging growth experience as the in-person event, and we look forward to making this year special.
Red Ribbon training is…
- Free substance use awareness training for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in the greater St. Louis area who have demonstrated leadership potential.
- Engaging, interactive sessions that teach students how to create their own Red Ribbon school activities. The workshops are led by local prevention professionals who are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles for youth.
- An opportunity for school sponsors to receive Red Ribbon planning resources – project start-up kits and other materials to help schools coordinate and promote anti-drug events in their community.
Breakout Sessions: To Educate and Share
These sessions keep students in the know with the latest facts on each topic and teach practical, hands-on techniques for sharing this information at their schools. Breakout sessions will cover alcohol, marijuana, prescription drug safety and other prevention issues that are trending in local communities today.
School groups will be sub-divided so that each school represented will attend as many breakout sessions as possible. Each school group will receive training in best practices for effectively sharing the information learned with their schools and communities during National Red Ribbon Week in October. We recommend one adult accompany each subdivided school group.
