2022 Gateway Award: Jess Anderson

PreventEd is honored to present the 2022 Gateway Award to Jess Anderson in appreciation of her exemplary work in raising the public’s awareness of alcohol and other drug issues.

Jess Anderson, known on-air as “Jess Live,” was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. When she is not on the air at WHHL Hot 104.1, she serves as a brand influencer assisting businesses in promoting brand awareness and creating content on her brand new podcast “Black Girl Uncensored with Jess Live.”

Her relatable, lively, no filter personality captivates all around her. Jess is passionate about the community of which she serves. This charisma and passion allows Jess to do what she does best while helping those around her. Jess enjoys and knows the importance of the work PreventEd does in the community. She recognizes that discussions around alcohol and other drugs are rarely talked about, particularly in the Black community. She is grateful to have a platform that allows her to reach community members who may be struggling, family members and loved ones of those struggling, and to normalize discussions around the topic.

Her passion for the future of our youth has led her to serve as a mentor to young women through various organizations throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Jess hosts an annual College Care Package Drive which targets young ladies who have accomplished getting into college but do not have the financial means to purchase items while pursuing their education. She volunteers for KIPP Inspire Academy and is an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
